Mayor Hardie Davis and Partners to Provide Free Masks
Thursday, August 13th, 2020
The Office of Mayor Hardie Davis is pleased to partner with local organizations to provide free masks and hand sanitizer for Augusta residents. The generous donation of 20,000 masks from Augusta National Golf Club and hand sanitizer from University Hospital makes these essential supplies available to our most vulnerable people.
“The safety and well-being of all our citizens continues to be our number one concern and priority. Over the past few weeks, Augusta has seen a marked increase in COVID-19 cases and deaths,” said Mayor Hardie Davis, Jr. “We know that cleaning our hands, wearing masks and social distancing can slow the spread of this devastating virus and save lives.”
Volunteers and staff from the Golden Harvest Food Bank, Salvation Army, and The City of Augusta’s Emergency Management Department will distribute masks while supplies last on Thursday, August 13, 2020 and Friday, August 14, 2020.
“When Augustans unite, we are a strong unbreakable community. Partnerships like this remind us that we are in this together and we have a responsibility to care for each other,” Davis added. “I remind all Augustans to wear a mask, wash their hands and social distance and encourage those who need supplies to tap into the generosity of our friends and neighbors to get what they need to be safe.”
