Thursday, December 3rd, 2020
The Georgia Department of Transportation announces two Transportation Investment Act (TIA) construction awards for Lincoln and McDuffie counties.
Infrastructure upgrades include State Route (SR) 43/Thomson Highway passing lanes in Lincoln County and drainage, pedestrian and roadway resurfacing on SR 17/Main Street in downtown Thomson. Once construction begins in 2021, both contracts list spring 2022 completion expectations.
Lincoln’s passing lane project parameters run from Clarks Hill Lake to SR 220. C and H Paving Inc. is the prime contractor for this $3.649 million TIA job allowing for safer Thomson Highway traffic movements. The work will install northbound and southbound passing lanes, as well as upgrade Woodlawn Amity Road’s intersection with the main highway.
McDuffie’s award combines TIA-funded stormwater system enhancements along Main Street from White Oak Road to Harrison Road. Work includes new shoulders with curb and gutter and five-foot sidewalks.
To make the best use of state dollars, GDOT combined the TIA-assigned work with maintenance resurfacing of SR 17 from US 278/Hill Street to Harrison Road. Reeves Construction is the prime contractor for the $2.335 million total project.
Information on schedules and lane closures will be available in advance of construction activities.
