G.L. Williams & Daughter Trucking Inc. announces the promotion of office manager Alethea Spann to business development manager.

“Since trucking and construction are male-dominated industries, and we are a woman-owned business, it is really exciting to find a like-minded strong woman who can step into this role,” said Lisa Wilson, the president of G.L. Williams & Daughter. “She has become part of the family.”

Spann started working at G.L. Williams in April 2018 as an administrative assistant, then office manager. As the business development manager, her duties will include:

• Maintaining contact and deepening relationships with existing customers. 

• Developing and nurturing new customer relationships and providing expert knowledge to new clients on the appropriate products for specific applications.

• Engaging in business networking.

• Working with the marketing firm and providing support and ideas for growth and development of the overall GLWD business.

“Her drive to learn and inquisitive nature, has helped her move forward.  She is a valuable member of the team and is always striving for ways to improve and simplify operations and offer meaningful insight,” Wilson said.

Spann said she was not looking for a career when she started the job, but she enjoys it more than she expected.

“You don’t think you can have a passion for dirt and rocks, but then you realize what a large role they play in our society from the individual homeowner to commercial industry,” Spann said. “I am looking forward to growing with the company and getting out and representing GLWD by meeting with the contractors in person. I look forward to the challenge of making new rock-solid partnerships with new companies and homeowners.”
