Columbia County is pleased to announce that the new Gateway Boulevard Extension is now open to thru traffic. This 1.5 mile extender now connects Gateway Boulevard at Partnership Drive to Gateway Boulevard at Wrightsboro Road.

The project begins near the Columbia County Exhibition Center and continues as a 4-lane section with planted median for 1⁄2 mile to a new roundabout, which will have permanent lighting in the future. The roundabout will serve as the future main intersection to Columbia County’s 75 acre parcel between I-20 and Kettle Creek Plantation subdivision. From the roundabout, the project is reduced to a 3-lane section for 1 mile to a new intersection at Wrightsboro Rd. The Wrightsboro Rd improvements include a new traffic signal, turn lanes for the new intersection, and a left turn lane for Brigadier Landing subdivision.

This project is funded by the 2017 General Obligation Bond.
