Georgia-Carolina Council, Boy Scouts of America Centennial Gala and Council Recognition Banquet
Thursday, March 18th, 2021
Food – Fun – Fellowship. Together these will be the three key elements to the Centennial Gala & Council Recognition Banquet on Friday | March 26 hosted from 6:30-8:30 in the beautiful Grand Rapids Ballroom of the Savannah Rapids Pavilion. For over a century, scouting has continued to serve communities throughout the CSRA and provided countless opportunities to develop youth into responsible adults, role models and citizens. Our gathering on March 26 will be our testament of celebration to recognize this century-long journey of supporting youth development, serving our communities and building a promising future for the next generation.
To kick-off our fellowship element, doors will open for a social hour from 5:00-6:30 as we welcome friends old and new to relive the memories of campfires gone by and adventures lived in the scouting environment. Here we will tell the tales, stories and jokes serving as the building blocks of memories created in this centennial movement. Contributing to our food element, our banquet program will officially begin at 6:30 serving barbeque, pulled pork, chicken and sides catered by Shane’s. Fun this evening will include celebration of our anniversary through a number of presentations by council key leaders, guest speakers and the presentation of several awards in recognition of those volunteers who continue to provide outstanding and distinguished service to the Georgia-Carolina Council and scouting movement, including the very first Distinguished Eagle Scout Award presented in council history to Dr. Rick Richards. This award is presented to an Eagle Scout who has received extraordinary national-level recognition, fame, or demonstrated eminence within their field, and have a strong record of voluntary service to their community. It is the National Eagle Scout Association’s highest honor.
We are inviting you to join us as we welcome scouters of every generation to celebrate and commemorate this centennial celebration. This will be our celebration of a movement that has given so much to so many, and will kick-off the next century of scouting in our communities.
Save the date, and I hope you will join us on Friday | March 26 at Savannah Rapids Pavilion.
