Boy Scouts Receive Gift from Augusta Rotary Club

Wednesday, June 16th, 2021

At a recent Augusta Rotary Club meeting the Georgia-Carolina Council was recognized for their Centennial Celebration and the century old partnership with the Augusta Rotary Club. It was on August 11, 1920 when the Rotary Club officially organized the Augusta Scout Council at a Board of Commerce meeting.

It was noted during the 1920 ceremony that “Augusta is the last important city in the south, with the exception of Charleston and Little Rock to engage a full-time Scout Executive. The boy’s of Augusta will rejoice to know of the headway being made in Augusta”

Today the Georgia-Carolina Council provides programs for boys and girls from age 5 to 21 throughout the CSRA. The Augusta Rotary Club, which also recently celebrated their centennial, has been a friend and supporter for the Boy Scouts programs since 1920 and recognized the milestone with a $1,000 gift to the annual Friends of Scouting campaign.
