Friday, December 3rd, 2021
First Tee of Augusta is pleased to announce an unveiling of a recently commissioned sculpture on Monday December 6th at 11:00am at First Tee – Augusta, 3165 Damascus Road in Augusta, Georgia. The sculpture is called “The Nine Core Values” and was created by Ed Durant, who worked on the project for 14 months. The public is invited to attend the artwork unveiling.
The sculpture is 30 feet in length and was built in Charleston, South Carolina out of steel with a thick Styrofoam skin. Mr. Durant selected artist Cole Phail of Appling, GA to assist him by painting the sculpture. Mr. Phail is the artist who created the popular James Brown mural in downtown Augusta on 9th Street. The sculpture highlights nine important core values that are taught to the First Tee students:
Courtesy, Respect, Judgment, Responsibility, Sportsmanship, Confidence, Honesty, Integrity, and Perseverance.
