The Salvation Army of Augusta Area Command has received $4,000 from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation to help feed their neighbors in their time of need. The Salvation Army will use this gift to purchase the food and supplies necessary to provide healthy daily meals to homeless and low-income men, women, and children in need.

“This gift from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation comes at a critical time for The Salvation Army. There are more people hungry in our community now than at any time in recent history. We are so incredibly grateful for Food Lion and their generosity,” said Captain Jonathan Raymer, the Area Commander and Senior Kroc Officer for The Salvation Army of Greater Augusta.

With support from the Food Lion Feeds Foundation, The Salvation Army can give homeless and low-income individuals and families healthy daily meals through the Center of Hope’s Soup Kitchen. Since 1891, The Salvation Army of Augusta has battled against poverty, hunger, addiction, and homelessness and is a leader in restoring lives.

The Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation is committed to supporting families facing food insecurity across its 10-state footprint. Established in 2001, the foundation provides financial support for programs and organizations dedicated to feeding local neighbors in the communities it serves. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded more than $15 million in grants.
