Wednesday, March 9th, 2022
The Georgia Carolina Council is proud to announce it will operate Summer Day Camp Programs for 8 weeks in Summer 2022 at its new Nature and Adventure Center. Camps are open to all boys and girls ages 6-11. Camps and extended day will be held Monday through Friday, from 7:30am – 5:30pm.
Camps will include athletic activities such as swimming in a commercial size pool, playing a variety of sports including tennis, basketball, kickball and others. The Center will also offer many nature and outdoor activities such as archery, fishing, hiking, etc. Camps will have the fire department, police department, parks service, and others come talk with campers about a host of topics including safety, emergency preparedness, and sustainability. Camp is open to all boys and girls ages 6-11. The camp is located at 4316 Three J. Road in Evans, across from Riverside Middle School in what was once the Augusta Jewish Community Center. Information about Summer Day Camp can be found at: https://www.gacacouncil.org/
Daniel Rogers, Scout Executive for the Georgia Carolina Council, which makes up 16 counties throughout the CSRA, noted, “With the help of incredibly generous donors, the hard work of our parent volunteers, and the strong vision of our Executive Board, we are making our dream of a nature and adventure center in the heart of Evans a reality. With this new facility we will not only have Summer Day Camp, but we also will be able to provide opportunities for hands-on learning for Scouts and students across the CSRA through educational excursions and field trips. Starting this fall we hope to supplement the fine job our local school districts are doing by providing additional learning experiences in the areas of STEAM, leadership, and teambuilding. Our Center wishes to explore nature and ecology with students in a way that hasn’t been done before. We are excited about the endless possibilities and thank our local school leaders for their partnerships.”
