Wednesday, March 30th, 2022
The Board of Directors at Golden Harvest Food Bank announced this week that RD Brown has been awarded the phase one building project for their new volunteer center and office renovations. This capital expansion is part one of two phases of projects which will increase the impact of the food bank to its 25-county service area. The renovation will add nearly 5,000 square feet of volunteer space as well as a welcome area, and much-needed conference, meeting, and office space.
The bidding process was coordinated by the architectural firm Cheatham Fletcher Scott with a bid review conducted by Golden Harvest's Executive Committee and staff to determine the final selection. Construction is scheduled to begin this spring.
"Competitive bids were received from four of the Augusta area’s best local general contractors, and the proposal from RD Brown Contractors was determined by the Golden Harvest Board to be the best choice. We look forward to working with the great folks at Golden Harvest and RD Brown Contractors to build a facility that welcomes volunteers, better informs them of the Golden Harvest mission, and makes them feel appreciated for the time they spend serving the hungry in our region," said Richard Fletcher, Principal Architect, Cheatham, Fletcher, Scott Architects
Amy Breitmann, President & CEO, Golden Harvest Food Bank added, "We are grateful to all the builders who were invited to bid and for our architectural firm's attention to detail and time spent on this process. We are thrilled to begin working with the team at RD Brown, bringing our collective vision to life and witnessing the lasting impact this will mean for all those we serve."
