Cycling Events to Impact Downtown Traffic

On Tuesday, April 26, and Sunday, May 8, 2022, the Soul City Criterium and USA Cycling Collegiate Road National Championship Criterium will take place (respectively) in the heart of downtown Augusta. The Soul City Criterium is the fourth stop of the 2022 Speed Week and the USA Cycling Criterium is part of the three-day USA Cycling Collegiate Road National Championship. Between the two cycling events, an estimated 600 participants and $350,000 in economic impact are expected to be brought in to the city.

For the safety of the cyclists, deputies from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office will tightly regulate the course. The following roads will be affected:

Soul City Criterium
Tuesday, April 26 @ Augusta Common: 3:00 PM - 10 PM Road Closures and NO PARKING along route
Affected Roads/Lane:
-Broad St. side of Augusta Common
-Take a right on 9th St.
-Take a right on Reynolds St.
-Take a right on 7th St.
-Take a right in Broad St.
-End in front of the Augusta Common

USA Cycling Collegiate Road National Championship Criterium
Sunday, May 8 @ Augusta Common: 5:00 AM - 4 PM Road Closures and NO PARKING along route Affected Roads/Lane:
-Broad St. side of Augusta Common
-Reynolds St. from 7th to James Brown
-James Brown from Reynolds to Jones
-Jones St
-Macartan St
-Broad St from Macartan to 7th

Spectators wishing to come and go during race day should park outside of the course as well as use walking access points to the Augusta Common designated by course marshals. Access will only be allowed when the riders’ safety is assured. PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE ON OR AROUND THE COURSE UNLESS AUTHORIZED. The packs of racers will hit speeds of up to 40 MPH.
