The Georgia Carolina Council of the Boy Scouts of America recently held its annual Distinguished Citizens Luncheon at its new Nature and Adventure Center. The event hosted many of the CSRA’s most distinguished business and community leaders. Judge Ashley Wright had the distinct pleasure of awarding Retired Superior Court Chief Judge of the Augusta Judicial Circuit, the Honorable Carl C. Brown, Jr., with the Distinguished Citizen of the Year Award. The recipient is selected from community leaders that exemplify the Scout Law through their contributions to society.

Columbia County District Attorney Bobby Christine delivered the keynote speech. In his remarks he praised Judge Brown and the Scout programs that “help provide better citizens”.

The event supports the Friends of Scouting (FOS) annual giving campaign of the Georgia Carolina Council and helps provide necessary funds to ensure a quality Scouting program for every youth across the CSRA. FOS is one of the Council’s largest sources of funding and has helped scouts ages 5-21 achieve their scouting goals for over 5 generations. Their support of scouting is an essential reason why scouting is so successful.

Scout Executive and CEO of the Georgia Carolina Council, Dan Rogers, stated, “Judge Brown personifies the spirit of the Scout Law through his support and dedication to others.
