Tuesday, May 3rd, 2022
National Travel & Tourism Week NTTW (May 1-7), the annual celebration of the contributions of the U.S. travel industry, will spotlight the critical role that travel will play in driving economic growth and building the path forward through the theme, Future of Travel. Throughout the year, Destination Augusta employs various tactics to promote and attract visitors to the city via its “Come See Augusta” campaign.
“Destination Augusta is planning for a future that will continue to strengthen Augusta’s tourism industry and economy. This National Travel and Tourism Week, we are spotlighting how travel benefits our workforce, supports our local economy, fosters sustainability and innovations, and reconnects Americans to each other and the world,” said Bennish Brown, President and CEO of Destination Augusta.
During NTTW, Destination Augusta will celebrate the legacy of Augusta native, Mr. James Brown and recognize leaders in hospitality. During this week, the local community is also encouraged to experience new local attractions, new restaurants, and shopping throughout Augusta’s River Region.
Destination Augusta has kicked-off the week with a NTTW Scavenger Hunt which focuses on the city’s most beloved public art dedicated to Mr. Brown. On Wednesday, May 3, Destination Augusta will host its annual ceremony “Masters of Hospitality” which recognizes individuals in the local hospitality community who have provided exceptional service to visitors. The organization will close out the week Saturday, May 7 at the James Brown Birthday Get Down 2022, which is a FREE event celebrating the life and legacy of Mr. Brown.
