Postal Service's Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive Returns
Monday, May 16th, 2022
In collaboration with the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC), Golden Harvest Food Bank will conduct its annual Stamp Out Hunger® Food Drive on Saturday, May 14th.
Residents around the Food Bank’s 25-county service territory will leave an assortment of non-perishable food items in containers next to their mailboxes before Saturday’s mail delivery. Local letter carriers will collect the donations as they deliver mail along their usual routes on May 14th. All donations accepted locally will be distributed by Golden Harvest Food Bank and its partner agencies.
After taking a brief two-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, the NALC has resumed the food drive in continued efforts to lower food insecurity rates across the country.
“We are thrilled to be linking arms with the NALC again this year to fight hunger in our area,” said Amy Breitmann, President & CEO, Golden Harvest Food Bank. “1 in 7 in our community are impacted by food insecurity and this food drive provides residents with an easy and efficient way to donate items for our neighbors in need.”
The Stamp Out Hunger® campaign, the largest one-day food drive in the country, has collected over one billion pounds of food for families experiencing food insecurity locally and nationwide since it was first held in 1983.
