On October 6 at 5:30 p.m., Augusta Technical College, Sumitomo Electric Lightwave and Amazon Web Services (AWS) will host a Career Networking Event for the graduates of its innovative new fiber optic fusion splicing certificate course.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is driving fiber optic cable innovation at a rapid pace, resulting in frequent releases of new hyperscale products and solutions, which represent the next generation of fiber optic networks and require training on state-of-the-art equipment to install and operate. Identifying this need to train workers for today and the future, AWS and Sumitomo Electric Lightwave are working together to host Fusion Splicing Certificate Courses at local community colleges across the United States

This event will serve as a graduation ceremony for students, and allow them to begin career and hiring discussions with potential employers that will be attending the event. It will also be an opportunity to see new technologies and equipment in the fiber networking industry.

Following a short speaking program that will include remarks from leadership at Amazon Web Services, Sumitomo Electric Lightwave and Augusta Technical College, members of the media will have the opportunity to view new technologies in the fiber optic networking field and speak with leaders in industry and education.
