Augusta Sees Drop in November Unemployment Rate

Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said Thursday that Augusta recorded an unemployment rate of 3.2 percent in November, down five-tenths of a percent over the month. A year ago, the rate was 3.1 percent.
"We are seeing job numbers continue to rise across the state as Georgians secure employment,” said Commissioner Butler. “Unemployment rates also dropped in regions throughout Georgia in November as we entered the holiday employment period.”
The labor force increased in Augusta by 136 and ended the month with 263,585. That number went down by 1,540 when compared to November of 2021.
Augusta finished the month with 255,085 employed residents. That number increased by 1,278 over the month and went down by 1,737 when compared to the same time a year ago.
Augusta ended November with 246,300 jobs. That number increased by 2,900 from October to November and rose by 5,700 when compared to this time last year.
The number of unemployment claims went up by 30 percent in Augusta in November. When compared to last November, claims were up by about 33 percent.
Employ Georgia, the GDOL’s online job listing service at employgeorgia.com showed about 6,828 active job postings in Augusta for November.
