Tuesday, January 10th, 2023
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (NGDB) co-founder John McEuen and the Circle Band (which includes two other founding NGDB members) appear in Augusta for the very first time on Friday, January 13, at 7:30 pm as part of at the Morris Museum’s Budweiser True Music Southern Soul & Song Series at Augusta’s historic Imperial Theatre.
“We are honored to welcome music legend John McEuen and the Circle Band to Southern Soul & Song,” said Kevin Grogan, Morris Museum Director and the series’ founder. “This is their first time performing on our series, but we feel certain it will not be their last.”
John McEuen brings his banjo, guitar, fiddle, and mandolin to share the music and memories of his fifty-five-year career in music. A popular presence in Ken Burns award-winning Country Music documentary series on PBS, John covers the story of the landmarkWill the Circle Be Unbroken platinum-selling album (a project he initiated) and his career with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. He takes the audience on an incredible musical journey, interweaving favorites from his radio legacy, including hot bluegrass; rarely heard, early NGDB classics; Carter Family treasures and, of course, “Circle” music, all in a multi-media presentation that features archival footage, as well as new music from his recent album Made in Brooklyn. www.johnmceuen.com
