Golden Harvest and Postal Service Partner to Stamp Out Hunger

Staff Report

On Saturday, May 13th, in collaboration with the National Association of Letter Carriers, Golden Harvest Food Bank will hold its annual Stamp Out Hunger® Food Drive.

Since last week residents across the CSRA have been receiving postcards in their mailboxes detailing the food drive and how they can help the community. Residents should place healthy, non-perishable food items in containers next to their mailboxes before Saturday’s mail delivery. Local letter carriers will collect donations as they deliver mail along their usual routes on May 13th. All donations accepted locally will be distributed by Golden Harvest Food Bank and its partner agencies across its 25-county service area.

“Each year we look forward to joining forces with the NALC to collect healthy food for the CSRA,” said Amy Breitmann, President & CEO, Golden Harvest Food Bank. “This food drive really gives our neighbors a simple and effective way to help provide nourishment to the thousands of families facing food insecurity in our community.”

The Stamp Out Hunger® campaign, the largest one-day food drive in the country, has collected over one billion pounds of food for families experiencing food insecurity locally and nationwide since it was first held in 1983. The event is held annually on the second Saturday of May.
