John Richardson Appointed as Dean of Academic Affairs at Augusta Tech

Augusta Technical College has appointed Mr. John Richardson as the Dean of Academic Affairs.
Richardson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Benedict College and a Master of Education degree from South Carolina State University. He has forty-six years of experience in education to include thirty-five years in higher education and has been with the College since 1997.
Richardson currently serves as the college’s Dean for the School of Arts and Sciences. Courses offered through the School of Arts and Sciences include English, foreign languages, speech, social and behavioral sciences, physical and natural sciences, fine arts, mathematics and humanities. Students may complete individual courses or a cohort of courses to fulfill their personal, educational or career goals.

Mr. Richardson will support the Office of Academic Affairs and Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Research (IE&R). In this role he will collaborate with all academic schools to bring new credit programs to the College. Mr. Richardson will be responsible for oversight of the curriculum committee and new faculty orientation. He will also provide support to the Academic Deans and the Provost with programmatic and regional accreditation reports, apprenticeships, articulation and transfer agreements, and the Department of Juvenile Justice CTAE program.

Richardson serves on many college and community civic groups and boards including life membership in Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated. He is a Deacon Emeritus at the Historic Tabernacle Baptist Church and has served as Chairperson of the Deacons Ministry. He is a member of Mount Hope Lodge 418 and is a graduate of Leadership McDuffie.
Richardson is married to Dr. Wanda Richardson. They are the parents of three children and grandparents of five grandchildren.
