Augusta Technical College 2023 SkillsUSA Champions

Congratulations to our SkillsUSA Georgia Postsecondary contestants who attended our National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC) June 19-June 24 in Atlanta, GA. Our contestants won 55 National Medals! Our Georgia Postsecondary team brought home 12 Bronze, 11 Silver, and 32 Gold Medals.
Our Augusta Tech Cougars helped place Georgia as the 7th state with the most medals in the Nation. Not only did they win a National Officer seat with Mrs. Emily Pinto being named Officer at Large. She will represent over 447,000 SkillsUSA members this school year.
Augusta Tech also has a member serving as a State Officer, Design Media Production Technology student Jose Rodriquez, who will serve as President in the coming school year. Our medalists are:
- Na’lexis Rowan won a Bronze Medal for Graphic Imaging Sublimation
- Dennis Nelson won a Silver Medal for Graphic Communication
- Justin McClellan won a Silver Medal for Screen Printing
- Jacob Golding won a Gold Medal for his outstanding T-Shirt Design, Jacob also was awarded the Dr. John Scott Award for accumulating the highest set of scores in the state of Georgia.
Our newly formed Commercial Drone Team made up of Malcolm Hill and Trevon Alexander came in just out of the medals in 4th place, which was an outstanding feat in this competition.
Design student Rashell Tanner placed 7th in the Nation in Advertising Design. Rashell also serves as President of the Student Government Association for Augusta Technical College.
This was a very successful team, and everyone is already looking forward to next year’s competitions! Go Cougars!
