Thursday, September 21st, 2023
C.T. Walker Principal E. J. Sharif says, "This is a very special day and a remarkable achievement for our teachers and students. I am so proud of their hard work and dedication to exceeding the standards and expectations of our amazing school, district, and state. This is just the beginning of our journey towards maintaining excellence in achievement, and we are confident that our incredible students and staff will continue to be recognized each year for being Literacy Leaders!"
C. T. Walker is among 155 schools to meet the qualification of Literacy Leaders and one of 70 to receive the” achievement” designation. Schools are being recognized for their English Language Arts (ELA) scores on the 2022-23 Georgia Milestones assessment.
During his talk with 4th grade students, Woods said Walker students scored the highest in the entire state and the school is the first in Richmond County to receive the Literacy Leaders recognition.
"We are extremely proud of the C.T. Walker students for setting the pace for our district-wide literacy goals. This school year we are focusing on literacy to improve student achievement in all content areas and grade levels. All of our schools will be working to find exciting ways to encourage and foster a love of reading" says, Associate Superintendent of Academic Services Dr. Malinda Cobb.
