Golden Harvest Food Bank Kicks Off Hunger Action Month in September

Tuesday, September 5th, 2023

During the month of September, Golden Harvest Food Bank and other Feeding America food banks nationwide will unite to raise awareness about the critical issue of food insecurity and encourage people across the country to take action.

Throughout the month, Golden Harvest Food Bank will be organizing impactful events and initiatives to engage the community and inspire change. The highlight of these events will be Hunger Action Day on September 15, a day dedicated to mobilizing the community to make a difference in the lives of those facing hunger.

“During a time of uncertainty and high food costs, Hunger Action Month gives us a chance to collectively raise our voices against hunger with other food banks across the country,” said Amy Breitmann, President & CEO, Golden Harvest Food Bank. “With 1 in 9 in our local service area being food insecure, including 1 in 6 children, it’s extremely important for us to stand together with our supporters to advocate for change and make a real difference in the lives of those we serve.”

September marks the 16th year Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization with a nationwide network of 200 food banks, has organized the annual call to action. By joining the movement, Golden Harvest Food Bank believes our collective voices, actions and commitment will help ensure every community has the food it needs to flourish.
