Values Week 2023 Makes Impact on Campus Community

During the sixth annual Values Week from Nov. 6-12, Augusta University is celebrating its six core values – collegiality, compassion, excellence, inclusivity, integrity and leadership – with various events.
In addition to the daily events, the university will host a blanket drive to benefit the Center for Patients and Families to help spread comfort and joy to the inpatients at Wellstar MCG Health. Blankets can be dropped off Greenblatt and Reese libraries and Annex 1 through Nov. 21.
This year’s Values Week event calendar includes:
Monday, Nov. 6
- Values Week kick-off event – 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Jaguar Student Activities Center breezeway and J. Harold Harrison, MD Education Commons. Students can receive a Values Week T-shirt, special treats and stickers while supplies last.
- Disability awareness book display – All day, Reese and Greenblatt libraries. Titles will include books on disability rights, disability advocacy, disability organizations and authors who have disabilities and write about their experiences.
Tuesday, Nov. 7
- Summerville Friendsgiving – 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Douglas Barnard Amphitheater. Join Civic Engagement for live music and great food before the Thanksgiving break.
- Ethics by Plinko – 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Douglas Barnard Amphitheater. Join the Audit, Compliance, Ethics and Risk Management team by learning more about ethics and values with a game of Plinko.
- The Color of Money – Uses & Limitations – Noon to 1 p.m. virtually. This is part of the USG Ethics Awareness Week. Register here for the Zoom link.
- Certificate in Inclusive Excellence – Question, Persuade, Refer (suicide prevention) 2:15 to 3:45 p.m. at the Health Sciences Building. Participants will be trained as QPR gatekeepers to recognize the warning signs of suicide, offer hope and support to individuals in crisis and direct them to appropriate care.
Wednesday, Nov. 8
- Chancellor’s Panel: Ethical considerations for a data driven landscape – 10 to 11 a.m. This event is part of the USG Ethics Awareness Week. Join through this link.
- Health Sciences Friendsgiving – 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pavilion 1. Join Civic Engagement for live music and great food before the Thanksgiving break.
- Ethics by Plinko – 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pavilion 1. Join the Audit, Compliance, Ethics and Risk Management team by learning more about ethics and values with a game of Plinko.
- Certificate in Inclusive Excellence – Inclusive Excellence and Winning Teams – Noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Jaguar Student Activities Center Coffeehouse. This session will help your team embrace and create a desire to know and be known by others and foster a deep sense of belonging in the work environment.
Thursday, Nov. 9
- Ethics and Compliance Best Practices Panel: Promoting an Ethical Culture – 10 to 11 a.m. virtual. This is part of the USG Ethics Awareness Week. Register here for the Zoom link.
- Certificate in Inclusive Excellence – How to Create Community in the Classroom – 2:15 to 3:45 p.m. at the Jaguar Student Activities Center Coffeehouse and Health Sciences Building. The session aims to empower professors to create vibrant learning environments that inspire collaboration, empathy and mutual respect among students.
