The Columbia County Board of Commissioners and Community Services Division are thrilled to announce the highly anticipated grand opening of the Martinez Park Project at Blanchard Park, located at 4541 Dewey Dr. in Martinez, Georgia. The grand opening will be on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at 1:00 pm.

The Martinez Park Project at Blanchard Park aims to provide an unparalleled recreational experience for individuals of all ages. Focused on embracing the beauty of nature, the park's latest expansion features state-of-the-art nature-based play areas.

Columbia County residents and visitors alike will be able to explore the creatively designed nature-based play areas that encourage interactive, imaginative, and educational play. From climbing structures and slides and sensory play elements, the new play areas have been carefully crafted to engage children and families in a way that fosters a deep connection to the natural world.

"We are excited to bring this innovative new addition to Blanchard Park," said Dennis Hodges, the Deputy Director of Columbia County Parks Recreation and Events. "The nature-based play areas and the dog park provide endless opportunities for individuals and families to connect with nature, have fun, and create lasting memories. We invite everyone to join us on December 13th to celebrate this milestone."

The grand opening ceremony will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony conducted by county officials. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the new section of the park.

Existing amenities, including walking trails, picnic areas, tennis courts, and sports fields, continue to be a focal point of the overall park experience.
