RCSS Scores Up on College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI)

Tuesday, December 19th, 2023

Richmond County School System students recorded gains in four of the components that are measured in the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI). The CCRPI is a compilation of Attendance, Georgia Milestones, End of Course exams, End of Grade level exams, and our Graduation Rate.

Elementary, middle and high schools reported gains in the CCRPI Content Mastery component as well as subject content areas on the Georgia Milestones given for their grade level. The following schools surpassed the state average: C. T. Walker Magnet, Freedom Park K8 (Elementary and Middle), Lake Forest Hills Elementary, A. R. Johnson Health Science and Engineering Magnet (Middle and High), and Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School (Middle and High).

Elementary and middle school students met or surpassed the expected growth for the CCRPI Progress component, which compares student scores from 2022 to 2023 and measures the increase or decrease in scores. Two schools earned a perfect score on the Progress component Davidson Fine Arts Magnet and Richmond County Technical Career Magnet Schools.

The Closing Gaps component scores specific student group populations and the 3% expected growth from the previous test scores, Barton Chapel, Deer Chase, Lamar-Milledge, Meadowbrook and Wheeless Road Elementary Schools reported a perfect 100 score. For high schools, the Academy of Richmond County, Davidson Fine Arts Magnet and A.R. Johnson Health Science and Engineering Magnet Schools also reported perfect scores.

BelAir K8, Freedom Park K8 (Elementary), Lake Forest Hills Elementary, McBean Elementary, A. R. Johnson Health Science and Engineering Magnet (Middle and High), Davidson Fine Arts Magnet (Middle and High) and Richmond County Technical Career Magnet Schools (Middle and High) all performed higher than the state average in the Readiness component. Readiness measures reading at or above grade, student attendance, and beyond the core for elementary and middle school students. For high school students, the score combines reading on grade level, student attendance, accelerated enrollment, pathway completion and college and career readiness.

“We are encouraged by the gains that we have made with these latest scores of all indicators from 2023,” says Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kenneth Bradshaw. “Our strategic focus on literacy, phonetics, and math skills are trending in a positive direction. We are seeing the initial results of these efforts and fully anticipate additional gains in scores from 2024. All of these gains would not be possible without the strong commitment from our teachers, paraprofessionals, instructional specialists, testing coordinators, principals and assistant principals. Each has played a pivotal role in these increases. Now more than ever, we are supporting our students and schools with resources to address their academic, physical and mental needs so they can concentrate on success.”

CCPRI scores were released by the Georgia Department of Education on Thursday, December 14.
