Planning for Alumni Weekend 2025 is already underway, and the Augusta University Alumni Engagement team is on the prowl to find potential 2025 Outstanding Young Alumni (under age 40) and Distinguished Alumni. The deadline to submit nominations is Sept. 1, 2024.

Each college’s alumni society board selects its recipients based on their outstanding contributions to their profession, positive impact in their community and dedication to their alma mater.

Notable alumni honored in the past include double Jaguar and CEO of Georgia’s Own Credit Union Stacy Tallent and Sherita King, MD, an associate professor in the Department of Urology at AU’s Medical College of Georgia and director of prosthetic urology at Wellstar MCG Health.

Tallent received the Distinguished Alumni award from the James M. Hull College of Business in 2023. He earned both his bachelor’s (’91) and master’s (’07) degrees in business administration. He is the first in his family to earn a degree from a four-year college.

King, also recognized in 2023, received the Outstanding Young Alumni award from MCG. When she graduated in 2008, King was the first Black female resident to complete a urology residency at MCG. Before returning to Augusta to practice urology and urologic surgery, she received her sexual medicine fellowship training at San Diego Sexual Medicine. King joined the faculty at MCG and the Augusta Veterans Affairs Medical Center in 2016.

A complete list of last year’s alumni award winners can be found on the Distinguished Alumni and Outstanding Young Alumni Awards page.

Honorees will be selected and celebrated during Alumni Weekend, set for April 25-27, 2025. For more information, visit the Alumni Awards page.
