‘MCG’s Got Talent!’ Set for Aug. 24
Wednesday, August 21st, 2024
The annual MCG’s Got Talent! show, a fundraiser showcasing the talents of students, faculty and staff from the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University, is set for 7 p.m. on Aug. 24 at the Grover C. Maxwell Performing Arts Theatre on the AU Summerville Campus.
Performances will include singing, dancing, musical instruments and artwork. The idea behind MCG’s Got Talent! is to showcase future physicians in a different light. Last year’s show featured more than 25 participants.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance or at the door. Proceeds of the event will go to the Georgia Cancer Center.
“I believe this event has now become integral to our annual schedule as all the students look forward to taking a night to showcase all their hidden talents in front of their peers,” said Rahul Patel, a second-year MCG student who is helping coordinate this year’s show. “Throughout our careers, we might not get many chances to display our lives outside of medicine, so this show provides both students and faculty the opportunity to do just that. But beyond simply being a fantastic show, this event allows a community to come together and unite for a singular cause.”
“This is one of many examples of how our multicultural medical students demonstrate humanism, a very important quality for a physician, and how they contribute to the mission of MCG by giving back to the community,” added Robert Dollinger, MD, a clinical assistant professor of internal medicine and faculty adviser for MCG’s Got Talent!.
