The Augusta Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Augusta Sports Council (ASC) are pleased to announce that visitors attending meetings, reunions, events and/or sporting events in Augusta will generate at least $9,975,585.20 in direct visitor spending over the month of July.  

One of the reasons for this $9.9 million is attributed to the number of family reunions that enjoy meeting in Augusta. There are a total of 40 family reunions meeting in Augusta just during the month of July. These reunions range in size from smaller reunions with 50 attendees to 200 attendees or more. The largest reunion meeting in Augusta this month is the South Carolina Roots Family Reunion with 180 room nights and a total of $90,972.00 in direct visitor spending.

Several large sporting events are also responsible for this large amount of money generated by tourism dollars. For example, Augusta Southern Nationals will bring an attendance of 22,700 people, 1,625 in room nights, and around $821,275.00 in direct visitor spending.  Nike Peach Jam will bring around 9,600 attendees, 4,500 room nights, and more than $2 million in direct visitor spending. Direct visitor spending is calculated based on research commissioned by both the Georgia Department of Economic Development and Destination Marketing Association International in conjunction with globally recognized research vendors, the US Travel Association and Tourism Economics.  Tourism Economics, a partner company of Oxford Economics, created the industry standard in event economic impact analysis using localized metrics that are updated annually.               

The list below represents just a small portion of the total number of events in Augusta this month. These are groups the Augusta CVB or ASC have worked with at some point in the site selection and/or planning phase. Groups meeting in Augusta, that have available websites, have been hyperlinked for those who would like to learn additional information. Family reunions will not be listed with websites.
