GA House Speaker, David Ralston, to Headline Augusta Metro Chamber Pre-Session Legislative Breakfast

The Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Georgia House Speaker, David Ralston, will be the keynote speaker at the Pre-Session Legislative Breakfast occurring on Thursday, November 19th at the Augusta Marriott Hotel.

House Speaker David Ralston was born in Ellijay, Georgia where he graduated from Gilmer County High School. He went on to attend Young Harris College and North Georgia College and State University earning his bachelor's degree. He later received a law degree from the University Of Georgia School Of Law.

In 1992, Ralston was elected to the Georgia State Senate and served until 1998 when he won the Republican nomination for Attorney General of Georgia. In 2002, Ralston was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives. Today, he represents the 7th District which includes Fannin and Gilmer counties and a portion of Dawson County. As a member of the House of Representatives, he chaired the House Judiciary Non-Civil committee and was Vice-Chair of the Judiciary committee.

In 2010, Ralston was elected the 73rd Speaker of the Georgia House of Representatives. He is

the Chair of the Southern Legislative Conference, and a member of the executive committee

of the National Speakers Conference. Ralston was named the 2010 Georgian of the Year by Georgia Trend magazine. In 2011, Governing magazine named him as one of the 16 Republican legislators in the nation to watch.

A large number of other local and state officials will also be in attendance at the breakfast meeting.
