Augusta Regional Airport takes pride in providing opportunities for youth in the CSRA to learn more about the Aviation Industry. Through the continued partnership with the Richmond County School System and its dedicated staff, the 2018-2019 RCBOE School Year now offers the State of Georgia’s Aviation Pathway Curriculum.

The Georgia Department of Education Aviation Pathway offers students full courses in Flight Operations and Aviation Maintenance. The RCBOE established the initial course offerings of Flight Operations to three high schools: Glenn Hills, Academy of Richmond County, and Cross Creek.

AGS has partnered with Augusta Aviation- Daniel Field to offer the Second Annual Paper Plane Contest to all students in the CSRA, in hope of sparking an interest in aviation. This event also showcases what an Aviation Pathway can offer to neighboring schools systems.

The Paper Plane Contest was designed to teach cause and effects of engineering and piloting. Students from all areas, grades first through twelfth, are invited to participate. Teams will compete for prizes for the furthest distance, time aloft, and most unique design. The grand prize winning team will receive a trophy and flight over Augusta in a Cessna 172!

The competition will be held on October 19^th at 10:00 a.m. at Augusta Regional Airport’s Fire Station.
