Golden Harvest Food Bank’s Board of Directors announces Amy Breitmann as the Food Bank’s new Executive Director.
A native of northern Ohio, Breitmann holds a BA in English and a Masters in Community Agency Counseling from Bowling Green State University. She and her husband Troy have lived in the Augusta area for 23 years. Breitmann brings 20 years of nonprofit leadership experience to the Executive Director position. Breitmann was the Co-Founder and Director of Development for The Lydia Project, a nonprofit organization that provides thousands of cancer patients across the country with supportive services. Breitmann later worked with Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia to fundraise for major projects including the opening of Helms College and Edgar’s Grill. Breitmann also served as the Vice President of Marketing for Vi Bella Jewelry, an international nonprofit providing employment in impoverished villages in Haiti and Mexico.
“Amy Breitmann possesses all of the qualities we were looking for in a candidate. She is faith focused, passionate about helping others, and possesses the vision to lead Golden Harvest into the future,” said Golden Harvest’s Board Chair Brian Ellefson. “Amy is committed to carrying out our mission of feeding the hungry and making a positive impact in the communities we serve. The Golden Harvest Board and staff are very excited about Amy’s appointment, and we look forward to a bright and successful future.”
Breitmann plans to build on Golden Harvest Food Bank’s strategic plan to create greater impact in the CSRA through providing healthier food to those in need and innovating to meet the needs of underserved populations.
“It is a true honor to answer this call to lead the incredible mission and stellar team at Golden Harvest Food Bank,” Breitmann said. “I am humbled and inspired by the legacy of serving our community that Mike Firmin and Travis McNeal have built over the past 37 years, from providing hundreds of daily meals at The Master’s Table Soup Kitchen to feeding the hungry across 25 counties. Their work, spirit, and wisdom will continue to inform the Food Bank as I lead us forward in feeding lives together.”
Golden Harvest’s founding Executive Director Mike Firmin gave the search committee’s choice his full backing.
“I am delighted with the Board’s choice of Amy Breitmann as the Food Bank’s third Executive Director. Golden Harvest’s mission of feeding the hungry in our region has been guided by God from the beginning, and Amy is the embodiment of Jesus' Great Commandment to ‘Love God and love your Neighbor’ as she has served our area selflessly and imaginatively throughout her career,” Firmin said. “My heart and prayers continue to go out for Golden Harvest as Amy leads the Food Bank into the future."
