The Pinnacle Club, Augusta’s premier city club, is proud to announce that its head chef de cuisine, Joseph Awokang, has successfully completed the rigorous requirements of the American Culinary Federation (ACF) to earn the distinguished title of Certified Executive Chef (CEC). In addition to his CEC designation, Chef Awokang also holds Certified Dietary Manager and Certified Food Protection Professional (CDM, CFPP) credentials, proving his expertise in managing food service operations.  This dual recognition places him among the nation’s elite culinary professionals and solidifies the Pinnacle Club’s reputation as the destination for exceptional cuisine and experiences.

"These certifications have been lifelong goals of mine, and achieving it feels like both a personal and professional triumph," said Chef Joseph Awokang, CEC, CDM, CFPP. "I am honored to bring this expertise to the Pinnacle Club, where my team and I are committed to crafting memorable dining experiences for our members. This achievement inspires me to continue pushing boundaries and exploring innovative ways to deliver exceptional food to Augusta's community.

"Chef Joseph’s accomplishment is a testament to his talent, dedication, and pursuit of exceeding expectations of culinary excellence," said James Stiff, CEO of Goodwill of Middle GA. "This achievement reflects not only his personal growth but also the outstanding dining experience we continuously strive to offer our members. His certifications are badges of honor for the Pinnacle Club and all of Augusta."

Chef Awokang’s culinary journey spans over two decades, with extensive experience in high-end restaurants and clubs across the greater Boston area. Now at the helm of the Pinnacle Club's kitchen, Chef Joseph has redefined its menus, combining classical techniques with modern flavors. These latest milestones further cement his role as a culinary leader within the community and beyond.

The American Culinary Federation’s Certified Executive Chef (CEC) designation is widely regarded as the pinnacle of professional achievement for chefs in the U.S. To earn the certification, candidates must pass a rigorous written exam that assesses culinary knowledge and a practical exam demonstrating their mastery of advanced cooking techniques, leadership skills, and sanitation protocols. Fewer than 10 percent of all U.S. chefs achieve the CEC title.

The Certified Dietary Manager and Certified Food Protection Professional (CDM, CFPP) credential is the leading nationally recognized certification for food service professionals. It signifies Chef Awokang’s expertise in food service management, personnel communication, nutrition, sanitation, and business operations, ensuring that the Pinnacle Club operates with the highest food safety and service standards.

The Pinnacle Club invites current and prospective members to experience firsthand Chef Awokang's culinary creations. To continuously enhance its member offerings, the Club’s dining program showcases innovative new menus curated by Chef Joseph, designed to reflect both seasonality and the evolving tastes of Augusta’s discerning food enthusiasts.
