Augusta Regional Airport is thrilled to announce they have been awarded a 4-million dollar grant through the competitive Federal Airport Terminal Program (ATP), part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL). The award was announced on October 30, 2024.

This 4-million dollar grant award is earmarked to partially fund the expansion of the passenger security screening checkpoint. This project will construct two additional passenger screening lanes and supplemental TSA office and operational space.

This is AGS’ second time receiving the ATP grant. In 2023, AGS was awarded $4,000,000.00 which was
used for the Airport’s commercial terminal gates 3 and 4 expansion project. This project expanded the gate area approximately 2,000 sq. ft. and reconfigured the space to accommodate two additional passenger boarding bridges.

“We are again grateful to have been selected for this federal support through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL),” said Herbert L. Judon, Jr.. “The BIL is extremely important in developing and/or rebuilding critical infrastructure such as Airports.  This upcoming Security Screening Checkpoint Expansion project is the perfect complement to our recently completed gate improvement project.  My goal is to complete it prior to the 2026 Masters®.  With two additional screening lanes (a total of 4), it will position us for future growth, increased operational throughput, and allow the Airport and our partner, the TSA, to provide more flexibility and amenities for our customers”
