Columbia County is imagining the possibilities ahead, and the community is invited to shape the future. The Foundations for the Future Comprehensive Plan is designed to bring together the voices of residents, business owners, and local organizations to build a strong foundation for the County’s future.

The plan will focus on key areas, including recreation, sustainable growth, local business support, and character preservation.

This comprehensive effort will build on what makes Columbia County unique today while looking ahead to meet the needs of both current and future generations. By fostering collaboration and incorporating community perspectives, the plan will result in policies and strategies that will guide the County and its leadership in making thoughtful, impactful decisions and investments for years to come.

“We are excited to kick off the Foundations for the Future Comprehensive Plan. The involvement of residents, business owners, and organizations is critical as we shape the County’s direction moving forward,” said Scott Sterling, Planning Services Director. “This is an opportunity for all voices to be heard and for us to collectively ensure that the future of Columbia County reflects the needs and desires of our community. It’s our shared vision that will guide us to a vibrant and sustainable future.”

Community members are encouraged to attend the Project Launch Celebration to share their ideas and help shape the vision for Columbia County’s future. The event will occur on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Columbia County Library (7022 Evans Town Center Blvd, Evans, GA 30809). Participants can engage in fun activities for all ages, learn more about the planning process, and contribute their thoughts on Columbia County's future direction.
