AT&T and Compudopt provided the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Augusta 100 refurbished laptops today to distribute to Augusta students and families.

The computers, funded by an AT&T investment, were given to the organization’s students and families as part of an event at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Augusta.

In conjunction with the laptop distribution, students participated in an interactive STEM-based golf activity through Learn Fresh, a nonprofit whose mission is to leverage students' passion for sports and entertainment to inspire their STEM learning.

AT&T also awarded the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Augusta a $25,000 community investment to support the AT&T Connected Learning Center at the Club.

“We appreciate AT&T for investing in our youth by providing laptops and access to digital skills programming,” said Kim Evans, President and CEO, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Augusta. “These opportunities empower our youth to excel in school, strengthen their digital skills and pursue their goals with confidence. Together, we are helping more Augusta youth reach their full potential.”

“Access to technology and digital tools is essential to how our students learn in today’s world. We appreciate AT&T for helping provide that access for young people in Augusta,” said Augusta Mayor Garnett Johnson. “This collaboration with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Augusta, AT&T and Learn Fresh is helping open doors for our young people to develop new skills that will help them succeed in school and in life.”

This effort is part of AT&T’s initiative to help address the digital divide through internet accessibility, affordability and safe adoption. AT&T is committing $5 billion to help 25 million people get and stay connected to high-speed internet by 2030.

“Learn Fresh is committed to connecting students to a new world of STEM learning through engaging, relevant online content, including golf-based lessons, that make math and problem-solving feel real and fun,” said Calvin Sibert, Chief Mission Officer, Learn Fresh. “We are proud to work with AT&T and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Augusta to help young people to pursue their passions and advance their education.”

“At AT&T, we are proud to collaborate with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Augusta to provide laptops to Augusta students and families so they have the digital tools they need to build real-world skills, explore new ideas and stay connected to learning beyond the classroom,” said Stan Shepherd, Regional Director of External Affairs, AT&T Georgia. “By pairing this distribution with a STEM-based golf activity alongside Learn Fresh, students can experience math problem-solving and technology come to life, helping them develop skills for the future.”
