On Friday, August 21st, United Way of the CSRA officially launched its
annual campaign by bringing together hundreds of community leaders, volunteers, nonprofit partners, and local businesses for its annual Campaign Kickoff and Project Serve event. Continuing with the theme, "United Is The Way," the organization shared progress toward its bold community impact goal of helping 30,000 ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) households by 2030.

"We're incredibly proud of the progress we've made in just one year, but we're even more energized by what's still possible," said Brittany Burnett, President and CEO of United Way of the CSRA. "Every one of the 5,687 ALICE households we've impacted last year represents a family that found hope, support, and a pathway toward greater stability. Reaching 30,000 households by 2030 will take all of us—businesses, volunteers, partner agencies, donors, and community leaders—to continue working together. That's exactly what our theme, United is the Way, is all about."

Following the kickoff, 381 volunteers representing more than 30 local companies and organizations fanned out across the CSRA for Project Serve, contributing approximately 1,524 volunteer hours at nonprofit organizations throughout our community.

Volunteers completed projects ranging from landscaping and facility improvements to painting, cleaning, food distribution, and other hands-on service initiatives that strengthen the nonprofits serving local families.

"This Kickoff and Project Serve event is a powerful reminder that our campaign is about more than raising dollars—it's about impacting people," said Joanna Conley, 2026 Board Chair of United Way of the CSRA. "Every volunteer, every donor, and every agency partner plays an important role in helping ALICE households find stability and hope. Together, we're creating lasting change across the CSRA."
