  • Augusta to Host Largest Solar Energy Projects in Georgia

    The City of Augusta announced that it broke ground on three Photovoltaic solar projects as part of Georgia Power’s Advanced Solar Initiative Distributed Generation program. The three separate one-megawatt projects are located at the sewer treatment plant on Mike Padgett Highway, the water production facility on Tobacco Road, and the jail on Phinizy Road. The projects are scheduled to begin generating electricity by December 1st of this year.

Nathan Deal announced a partnership with South Carolina for an estimated $75 million project to replace existing Interstate 20 bridges over the Savannah River and the Augusta Canal and add lanes on I-20 to Exit 1 in South Carolina. The project will enhance safety and operations on both sides of the Savannah River.
