The Augusta Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Augusta Sports Council (ASC) are pleased to announce that visitors attending meetings, reunions, events and/or sporting events in Augusta will generate at least $2,367,293.60 in direct visitor spending over the month of November.
November is a very active month for rowing events. The Augusta Rowing Club will help bring two large events to Augusta and North Augusta. The 2014 Head of the South Regatta with 1,650 participants, held at Langley Pond, and the USRowing Masters National Head Race Championship with 500 participants on the Savannah River.
The milder climates and easy access to water make Augusta an ideal place for hosting both regional and national water sports.
"The Savannah River provides a great opportunity for spectators to enjoy the regatta with Hammond's Ferry at the start and the Riverwalk that follows the course through downtown Augusta," said Sarah Joos, USRowing Events Coordinator. "Augusta is also a great place to catch up with your Masters friends. With its compact downtown area and a growing number of local restaurants serving up food the South is known for, it's a wonderful place to explore and experience."
Meetings and conventions also find Augusta an excellent destination to hold their annual conferences. This month we will see 350 attendees from the Georgia Association of School Business Officials and 650 attendess from the Georgia School Counselors Association.
"Attendess enjoy meeting in Augusta," says Barry White, Preseident and CEO of the Augusta CVB. "We're affordable, and our primary public meeting facility is within walking distance of chef-owned restaurants, attractions, nightlife and more."
The list below represents just a small portion of the total number of events in Augusta this month. These are groups the Augusta CVB or ASC have worked with at some point in the site selection and/or planning phase. Groups meeting in Augusta have been hyperlinked for those who would like to learn additional information.
Direct visitor spending is calculated based on research commissioned by both the Georgia Department of Economic Development and Destination Marketing Association International in conjunction with globally recognized research vendors, the US Travel Association and Tourism Economics. Tourism Economics, a partner company of Oxford Economics, created the industry standard in event economic impact analysis using localized metrics that are updated annually.
