Friday, October 24th, 2014

Goodwill’s Aiken Job Connection will provide access to employment opportunities at its third annual EmployABILITY Career Expo set for Wednesday, Oct. 29.

Sponsored by Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and the CSRA, the EmployABILITY Career Expo will be held 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, at the Goodwill Aiken campus at 1015 Pine Log Road. A Job Fair Boot Camp to help job-seekers put their best foot forward will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at the Job Connection.

The Boot Camp and the Career Expo are offered free of charge to job-seekers and employers.

While the job fair recognizes the importance of providing career opportunities to workers with disabilities or barriers to employment, participation is open to all job-seekers.  The fair is designed to put into action the national theme of 2014’s Disability Employment Awareness month: “Expect. Empower. Employ.”

Employers and community resources participating in the EmployABILITY Career Expo include Bridgestone America Tire Operations, Costa Layman Farms, DayBreak Adult Care, Domino’s Pizza, Tri-Development Center, Goodwill, Aiken Job Connection and Goodwill Staffing Services.

In the past year, Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and the CSRA proudly assisted in placing 4,305 people into jobs and offered career development services to more than 22,000 individuals. During the past five calendar years, Goodwill assisted in placing 12,664 individuals in jobs, creating more than $375 million in estimated annual new payroll economic impact for our communities.

In addition, Goodwill is being honored this week as the Employer of the Year by the South Carolina Commission for the Blind.
