Members of Aiken Technical College’s Campus Ambassador Program and Student Government Association joined student leaders from throughout the state at the annual S.C. Technical College System Student Leadership Conference in Greenville last week.

The annual conference, hosted this year by Greenville Technical College, was themed “A New Generation of Leaders” and focused on the qualities and attributes of strong leaders. 

“The conference was an excellent opportunity for our student leaders to interact with their peers and share best practices,” said ATC Marketing & Student Experience Manager Anna Dolianitis.  “The students returned from the conference excited and invigorated to put what they learned into practice on their campus and in their community.”

Students heard from guest speakers, participated in breakout sessions, and had an opportunity to interact and share ideas with their fellow student leaders.  Topics addressed at the conference included communication, planning, diversity in leadership, and more. 

“I learned from the conference that being a leader is so much more than having ideas; It’s about being able to get people involved, making it fun, and being able to work together as a group to make the ideas a reality,” said ATC Campus Ambassador Linda Martens. 

“The conference was absolutely a wonderful experience and refueled my fire for SGA,” said SGA President Melissa Gentz.  “One thing that I feel strongly about is for students to feel engaged, active, heard and connected.  The conference gave that boost of being a leader.”

Earlier this month, ATC’s Alpha Xi Lambda chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society attended the Carolina Regional Phi Theta Kappa Leadership Conference in Myrtle Beach. 

ATC’s Campus Ambassador Program provides an opportunity for students enrolled in different programs of study at ATC to develop leadership skills through participation in the College’s social, cultural, student life and marketing activities. 

ATC’s Student Government Association allows students to serve as a voice for ATC students, plan campus and community-wide activities, and encourage student engagement and participation at ATC.

The PTK Honor Society recognizes the academic and service achievements of two-year college students and provides opportunities for growth and development through honors, leadership and service.
