Recent graduates in Aiken Technical College’s health sciences programs excelled on national licensure and certification exams for their programs with perfect or near-perfect cohort pass rates. 

Students in ATC’s Associate’s degree in Nursing program passed the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) exam with a 100% collective pass rate, and the Licensed Practical Nursing program graduates passed the NCLEX for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) exam with a 100% pass rate, as well. 

ATC’s radiologic technology graduates achieved a 100% pass rate on the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) exam, and both the Paramedic and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) cohorts completed with a 100% pass rate on their Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) registry exams. 

ATC students received near-perfect exam pass rates in Electrocardiograph (ECG) and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), with 95% and 92%, respectively. 

“We are extremely proud of the students’ results,” said ATC Dean of Health Sciences Dr. Hermecender Walton.  “With the help of their dedicated faculty members, the students completed these very challenging and competitive health sciences programs and proved that they are ready to enter the healthcare field and care for others in our community.”

Ashley Trull, an ADN program graduate and Aiken native, passed the NCLEX-RN exam after graduation from ATC.  Trull credits ATC’s program with preparing her to enter the healthcare workforce at a local hospital.

“The program was challenging, but the teachers were very helpful and they tried to help us understand the material,” Trull said. “They made us realize that the career, itself, is challenging, and they put pressure on us so we could be prepared for the job that we were going to do.”

Trull currently works as a Registered Nurse on the cardiac floor at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. Her ultimate goal is to work with children, perhaps as a school nurse. 

“Every single day, I see myself recalling something that we talked about in class or in clinicals,” Trull said. “ATC definitely prepared me to be a nurse.”
