Press release from the issuing company
Wednesday, October 22nd, 2014
Augusta’s landmark hotel, The Partridge Inn, will be closing for four months to complete a major renovation starting November 2, 2014. The property will re-open in March 2015 in plenty of time to welcome guests to the 2015 Masters tournament with a brand new, elevated experience.
The historic hotel, which first opened in 1910, will undergo $6 million in improvements to restore the property to its status as Augusta’s Grand Dame of Hospitality. During the renovation, The Partridge Inn will continue to take reservations for bookings that occur in spring 2015 and beyond through the website www.partridgeinn.com, or by calling (706) 737-8888.
The hotel was purchased in June 2014 by Partridge Inn Holdings, LLC and will be operated by Atlanta-based Northpointe Hospitality Management, LLC, with the goal of a complete renovation that would bring the property up to the modern day standards and amenities that today’s travelers have come to expect. The owners have engaged the design services of Sims Patrick Studio, Inc. out of Atlanta, Georgia.
“After the last guest checks-out on November 2nd, work will begin immediately. Though the hotel has had some refurbishing in the past few years, they have not been enough to keep pace with today’s ever-changing hospitality trends and guest preferences and expectations. Upcoming renovations will be substantial in scale and will involve significant improvements in all areas of the hotel, including complete refurbishment of guestrooms, bathrooms and all public areas,” said Greg Winey, President of NorthPointe Hospitality Management, LLC. “It was for that reason that we chose to close. Though this was a difficult decision, it became clear that it was the best way to finish the work required in a timely manner without causing further disruption to our guests.”
Phase one of the renovation will be a complete remodeling of all 144 guest rooms and corridors, new flooring surfaces in the restaurant and Verandah, new exterior drive and landscaping, new exterior building colors and design elements and necessary repairs throughout the building. The hotel will also be adding a pantry adjacent to the current front desk. In addition, the property will be upgrading its
Wi-Fi signal and meeting room technology. Phase two of the renovation, which will take place after the Master’s Golf Tournament, will include refurbishments of all meeting space and lobby.
”Since The Partridge Inn holds such a prominent place in Augusta’s history, it was important for us to blend the rich historic past of the hotel with modern technology and conveniences in a seamless, ‘old- meets-new ‘ design where guests can experience the best of both worlds, ” said Rick Patton, principal and owner of the hotel.
Design accents including the use of rich, deep-toned woods, richly-textured fabrics, neutral colors and an eclectic, modern, timeless design. Libby Patrick, President of Sims Patrick Studio, Inc., the design firm working with The Partridge Inn, describes the new look as, "Old World glamour meets Southern charm with a modern twist.” Outdoor improvements will include updates to the over one-quarter-mile of verandahs and balconies encircling the hotel as well as a color change from the signature yellow exterior.
"The renovation to The Partridge Inn will strengthen our product and services, allowing us to provide our guests with the Southern Hospitality experience they expect to receive when walking through our doors,” said Tijuana Jenkins, Director of Sales and Marketing.
The public is invited to follow the renovation process and progress via The Partridge Inn’s Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/ThePartridgeInn.
