May Visitor Spending Projected at $2.3M in Augusta

Visitor spending in Augusta is projected to generate more than $2.3 million during May.

The Georgia U.S. Tennis Association adult championships from May 14-18 is expected to provide the most in visitor spending at about $454,000 and 1,000 visitors, according to information provided by the Augusta Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Augusta Sports Council.

Direct visitor spending is calculated by the number of occupied overnight hotel rooms and money spent by visitors in local hotels, restaurants and stores.

Paine College’s commencement weekend, May 8, is expected to generate the most visitors, 3,000, according to the bureau.
