New Salvation Army Family Store Grand Opening Sept. 10th

Staff Report From Augusta CEO

Thursday, September 10th, 2015

A new Salvation Army Family Store is opening at 3360 Wrightsboro Road in Augusta. The Grand Opening ceremony will be at 9:00AM on Thursday September 10th. Moving down the street from our former location at 1507 North Leg Road, the new Family Store will be the flagship thrift store for The Salvation Army in the CSRA. With a drive-through donation drop-off and more than 25,000 sq. ft. of retail, sorting and warehouse space, the new Family Store will help us better serve the community.

“We are excited about this new Family Store, it’s a great location with more retail floor space and the Drive-Thru donation center offers people a quick and easy way to donate gently used clothing and household items” said Major Tony Perez, Area Commander for The Salvation Army in Augusta.

Give, Shop, Heal: Three simple words that sum up The Salvation Army Family Stores.  The goods you donate, and the money you spend in stores, fund programs that heal broken lives right here in the CSRA.

GIVE When you donate goods to The Salvation Army, those goods are then sold through our Family Stores. The proceeds from those purchases are used to fund our Drug & Alcohol Rehabilitation program and our Center of Hope that provided meals and shelter to homeless men, women and children 365 days a year.

SHOP We have great bargains on clothing, furniture, household goods, sporting equipment, books, electronics, appliances and much more.

HEAL Every purchase makes a life-changing difference. Not just for those in the grip of addiction, but for their families as well.

The Salvation Army drug & alcohol rehabilitation programs are 100% funded from the proceeds of our Family Stores, allowing them to be self-sustaining. The program helps participants to break the chains of addictions and acquire the skills necessary to become self-sufficient and productive citizen.
A major part of the program is involvement in their rehabilitation with Work Therapy. The Family Stores helps them regain self-esteem and learn valuable vocational skills as well.

We accept donations of clothing, furniture, household goods, sporting equipment, books, electronics, appliances and more at any of our area Family Stores. The Salvation Army Augusta Area Command also operates Family Stores at 1803 Knox Ave in North Augusta and in Thomson at 910 Augusta Hwy.
