Students in Business Program in Columbia County Happening This Wednesday

Staff Report From Augusta CEO

Tuesday, September 15th, 2015

This week, 75 Columbia County high school Career Pathways students will spend a day visiting businesses related to their field of study.

The Columbia County Chamber and the Columbia County Board of Education have joined forces for the second time to further develop “Students in Business,” a unique career training program for students in the Career, Technical, Agriculture Education programs in the county’s five high schools.

On Wednesday, September 16, students will come together at Grovetown High School. After a short assembly, they will board assigned buses which will take them to various businesses in Columbia and Richmond counties. Students are grouped by their field of interest. For example, Broadcast, Graphic Design and Marketing students are in one group. Construction, Engineering and Agriculture students are in another.

They will tour area businesses to learn more about operational procedures, career opportunities and educational requirements. I hope you will consider covering Students in Business

If you would like to cover any of the visits, please contact Heath Taylor. The students will meet at Grovetown High at 8:15 am, leave at 9 am, and return to Grovetown at 1:30 pm, then depart for their home school at 2 pm.

The participating businesses are: Kendrick Paint and Body, Textron Specialized Vehicles, John Deere, EDTS, LLC., QuadGraphics, GIW, Mass Media Marketing, and ADP.
