The Project Management Institute Educational Foundation is pleased to announce its decision to award a grant in the amount of $16,000 to United Way of the CSRA for the “PMIEF – UWCSRA Nonprofit Capacity Building Program”.  

The “PMIEF – UWCSRA Nonprofit Capacity Building Program” will reach the UWCSRA agencies in the Central Savannah River Area to enhance their ability to institute strategic planning, to plan events for revenue-generating purposes, and to develop funding proposals, all of which will support their fundraising (and sustainability) efforts.    The agencies will also have access to PMIEF educational resources such as Project Management Skills for Life and “How Project Management Can Be Used in Your Nonprofit”. 

Through this program, 24 agencies acquired project management training in a series of workshops and shared this knowledge with their colleagues to build these nonprofits’ organizational capacity and in turn increase the agencies’ overall capacity to build sustainable funding to serve this community. Participating organizations deepened their understanding of project management practices in areas of scope, schedule, cost, and risk management. These skills are valuable in strategic planning and fundraising, which are at the core of every nonprofit agency. The Augusta/Aiken PMI Chapter provided the training and will also provide resources to continue to expand the agencies’ project management skills as they implement the training.

In addition to the training hosted by PMIEF and the Augusta/Aiken PMI Chapter, each agency will receive a mindmapping software license by MatchWare, Inc. entitled Mindview 6.0 Business. This software is priced at $375 per user, but the grant provided the software at no cost to each of the participating agencies. This software is an award-winning productivity improvement tool with excellent file and project management features that will save the nonprofit agencies time and money.
