Deadline for Walton Winter Weekend Registration is January 15th
Thursday, January 7th, 2016
Children ages 6 to 18 with physical disabilities and their families are invited to enjoy a weekend away together in a safe, medically supervised environment thanks to Walton Foundation for Independence's Winter Weekend camp, taking place February 5-7, 2016 at Camp Twin Lakes in Rutledge, Ga.
This is the second year for the camp, which hosted 15 families last year. “Last year’s Walton Winter Weekend gave parents the opportunity to see their kids doing activities many of them never though possible,” said Haley Hamam, Associate Development Officer, Walton Foundation for Independence. “It was amazing to see the children play with and enjoy one another in a completely safe and worry-free environment. It was also a great opportunity for families to connect and support one another.”
Along with the usual camp offerings, families will have the opportunity to see their children soaring on a zip line or climbing a ropes course, with the assistance of trained volunteers and medical staff. The weekend will also offer respite for parent-caregivers.
A $25 registration fee per family is requested. All of Walton Foundation's programs are donor supported, and donors have the opportunity to sponsor an entire family's camp weekend with a $400 donation.
