“We might not be able to end hunger in our community but we are sure making an impact,” comments Amy Jones, Queensborough National Bank and Trust Marketing Manager. And with those words in 2010 Queensborough bank and its employees in partnership with Golden Harvest Food Bank of Augusta set out to serve.

Five years later in calendar year 2015 Q hosted 11 mobile pantry events in eight strategic community areas distributing over 70,000 lbs. of food. In rain and sun, dozens of Queensborough employees worked beyond normal hours to hand out bags and boxes of food.  Counties served include: McDuffie, Jefferson, Emanuel, Washington, Richmond, Columbia and Burke. “These events help take the pressure off of local food pantries and get food to families that may not have a food pantry nearby,” explains Jones. “Our employees, customers and local community groups have overwhelmingly supported the drive to reach the hungry in their community."

“We know we are making an impact,” says Jones, “the look on the faces of people we help and the comments of appreciation we receive makes a powerful statement to our volunteers. Some employees bring their children to help and show by example what giving is all about.”

In 2015 alone, QNBT employees and customers voluntarily gave over $3,500 to the Q mobile pantry efforts. Queensborough has also consistently matched these contributions 100% since 2010. To increase the success of each event, Queensborough bank partners with churches, civic groups and local businesses in an all out effort to feed the hungry.
