2016 GHSA State Golf Championships Return to Augusta

More than 2,000 high school golfers, coaches and fans will arrive in Augusta in preparation for the 2016 Georgia High School Association Golf State Championships presented by E-Z-GO on Monday, May 16, 2016 with a practice round on Sunday, May 15, 2016. The State Championships for A–AAAAA boys and girls classifications will be held at ten different area golf courses. These courses will host 10 state championships.
 
On Saturday, May 14, 2016 the Augusta Sports Council, along with local sponsors, E-Z-GO and the Augusta Golf Association, will host a welcome dinner for the golfers and coaches at Augusta University's Christenberry Fieldhouse. Tournament play begins Monday, May 16 at 8:00 am at each of the ten host courses. Awards will be presented at each course immediately following play.

Wade Marchman, GHSA Tournament Director, "This will be the third time Burke County High School has teamed with the Augusta Sports Council to host the GHSA State Golf Championships.This would not be possible without the support from all of the local golf courses, professionals, and club members. As a high school golf coach and tournament director, I look forward to watching 160 high schools compete for a state championship in their respective classifications."  GHSA's Assistant Executive Director, Jay Russell added, "The Georgia High School Association is extremely excited to return to Augusta for the 2016 Golf State Championships. The GHSA offers many thanks to the Augusta Sports Council for hosting and E-Z-Go for sponsoring.  Monday, May 16th will offer an exciting day of high school golf at ten Augusta area venues."

Augusta Sports Council CEO, Stacie Adkins is "thrilled to welcome back the best high school talent from across the state to Augusta's River Region.  These players will compete on many of our outstanding courses which provides them an opportunity to showcase their talent. 2A Boys- Belle Meade Country Club
2A Girls- Applewood Golf Course
3A Boys- Gordon Lakes Golf Club
3A Girls- Pointe South Golf Club
4A Boys- Jones Creek Golf Club
4A Girls- Waynesboro Country Club
5A Boys- Bartram Trail Golf Club
5A Girls- West Lake Country Club

6A Boys- Spring Hill County Club in Tifton, GA
6A Girls- Sunset Country Club in Moultrie, GA
