Augusta CVB to Host Free Family Reunion Workshop and Tradeshow

Staff Report From Augusta CEO

Friday, April 15th, 2016

The Augusta Convention and Visitors Bureau will offer a free Family Reunion Workshop and Tradeshow on Saturday, April 23rd at 8:00 a.m. at the Augusta Marriott at the Convention Center. Advanced registration is required.

Augusta CVB Reunion Specialist “Cousin” Michelle Bovian will provide suggested timelines, reunion planning tips, and ideas for how to have a fun and exciting reunion on a shoestring budget. Attendees will also learn how to use the free resources of the Augusta CVB to plan and achieve a successful family reunion. There will also be a tradeshow featuring vendors from around Augusta’s River Region. Following the workshop and tradeshow, attendees will be invited to tour a local attraction and hotel meeting space.

“Family reunion planning is not easy,” said Bovian. “We understand that family reunions are fun, but they are also a lot of work. You never seem to have enough time or help to do what you really want to do, and that’s where the Augusta CVB fits in.”

During 2015, the Augusta CVB worked with more than 80 family reunions, which generated nearly $1.5 million in direct visitor spending. One of the largest family reunions was the South Carolina Roots Family Reunion with 180 room nights and a total of $90,972.00 in direct visitor spending.
